How to Call Portugal from the U.S.

Every now and then you need to call Portugal, right?

Sometimes though, you’re a little put off because everyday it seems like the rules for making international calls keep changing. The calling codes keep getting shuffled around, or new digits get added on, right? If that sounds like you, then let us help you out with our super simple “How to Call Portugal” guide. It will make calling Portugal a pleasure again, instead of a pain!

To call Portugal from the U.S., just follow these dialing instructions:

  • First dial 011, the U.S. exit code.
  • Next dial 351, the Portugal country code.

Then dial the the 9-digit phone number, which will start with a 2 for landlines and a 9 for cell phones (see sample calling code list below). The U.S. to Portugal international dialing format should then appear as so:

      Landline: 011 + 351 + 2 XXXX XXXX

    Cell phone: 011 + 351 + 9 XXXX XXXX
