How to Call Hanoi from the USA

• Start with 011 — the exit code for the U.S. and Canada.
• Next, enter 84 — the country code for Vietnam.
• Then, dial 4 — the Hanoi area code (landlines only*).
• Finally, finish with the local 5-7 digit Hanoi phone number.

*When calling mobiles in Hanoi, enter the U.S./Canada exit code, the Vietnam country code and then either:
a) “1” before the 9-digit mobile number or b) “9” before the 8-digit mobile number.

The hoopla around Hanoi:

Although not the country‘s biggest city, Hanoi is Vietnam‘s capital and celebrated its 1,000-year anniversary in 2010. Hanoi can lay claim to being the first city in Vietnam with Western-style universities and is home to the Temple of Literature. Some other historically relevant sites of Hanoi are the Flag Tower of Hanoi and the Hanoi Cathedral. Also, it‘s said that Vietnam‘s most popular dish, Pho, originated in this city.
